The Andy Griffith Show was an American television series that aired from 1960 to 1968. The show centered around Andy Taylor, (played by Andy Griffith), a rural sheriff who rarely carried a gun. The series was an immediate hit with its audience, and still enjoys success in syndication.

The Andy Griffith Show was based around widowed Sheriff Andy Taylor, raising his young son Opie (Ron Howard) in the rural North Carolina town of MayberrySheriff Taylor was also the town’s justice of the peace dispensing summary judgments. He apparently had jurisdiction in the surrounding county as well.

Cuban-born bandleader Ricky Ricardo, and his wife, Lucy, live in a Brownstone apartment building on East 68th Street in New York City. The beautiful but daffy Lucy has the nasty habit of getting into jams, scrapes, and predicaments of all kinds. The Ricardos’ best friends and landlords, Fred and Ethel Mertz, frequently find themselves in the middle of Lucy’s outlandish escapades.

A witch who inherited her powers from her feisty mother Endora (Agnes Moorhead), Samanthaagrees not to use her powers anymore when she decides to marry mere mortal Darrin Stephens (Dick York)–both of which actions disappoint her mother greatly.
